THE ORGANIZATION
Our client, the Prostate Cancer Centre (the PCC), is a unique, not-for-profit organization designed to meet the information as well as the personal and family support needs of men with prostate cancer or prostate-related conditions. The PCC provides access to a multi-media information resource centre, individual and family support through informed volunteers and professionals, an ultrasound guided prostate biopsy facility, and coordination of prostate cancer research projects. The PCC is an integral part of the new Southern Alberta Institute of Urology, located on the top floor of the new parkade at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary.

Annual revenues and expenditures for the PCC are often in excess of $1 million. Funding for the PCC is provided primarily through the Calgary Prostate Cancer Foundation (the Foundation), but also derives from additional programs such as the management of a portfolio of rents received from health care professionals leasing office space at the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology. The Boards of Directors of the PCC and the Foundation work closely together to ensure the ongoing viability of the PCC and its programs. The PCC Board includes Directors who are medical specialists involved in prostate and cancer related treatment and research. The Foundation Board is comprised of senior medical, community and business leaders. Further information can be obtained from the organization’s website at: www.prostatecancercentre.ca
