The Graduate Orthodontic Program
The Graduate Orthodontic Program (GOP) was established in the early 1970’s and has a long-standing reputation in Canada. Since 2000, the GOP has augmented its international reputation based on its increased number of publications. This increase reflects an increase in the research commitment of their faculty and students. This was also associated with an increment in the number of students accepted from three to five per year. Additionally, in 2003, a new combined research/clinical program was created. This PhD program allows clinicians to get postgraduate training in clinical orthodontics simultaneously with strong research training.
The GOP vision is to graduate orthodontically qualified clinical scientists by encouraging intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning for the benefit of their communities. This will be based on excellence in evidence-based clinical education, focused externally funded collaborative research, and leadership in the adoption of innovations leading to improved patient care.
