The Role
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Sales, the Vice President of Sales – North America will lead a national sales team of 4 individuals focused on growing new business. The Vice President of Sales is responsible for the overall revenue growth performance for the company and will play a key role in leveraging the organization’s resources to ensure continued success.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Oversee all sales and sales-related functions including sales strategy, sales training, forecasting, territory management and people development;
- Drive new business revenue aggressively while ensuring strong profitability;
- Identify necessary support resources for sales team and mobilize these required resources to successfully close new business, including identification, prospect qualification, survey organization, proposal development, proposal delivery and contract negotiation;
- Provide strong leadership to the sales team. Mentor and coach a seasoned, highly skilled team of sales professionals. Continually develop their skills;
- Motivate direct reports to overachieve sales targets; and,
- Communicate effectively across the organization both horizontally and vertically.
The Person
To be successful, the ideal candidate should possess the following education, skills and experience:
- A track record of consistently exceeding sales quotas and targets for a minimum of 5 years;
- Experience in selling to the Resource Sector “C” suite;
- Ability to work with an elaborate CRM system and utilize to its fullest extent;
- Experience in the recruitment, leadership, development, training and motivation of sales professionals;
- Excellent relationship builder with potential clients and internal colleagues;
- Ability to represent the organization at a variety of industry and non-industry events. Serve as “face of company;”
- Excellent communication skills (listening, written and oral);
- Think logically with a common sense approach;
- Ability to travel extensively throughout Canada and the continental United States;
- Very strong intellect, strong executive presence with high energy and the ability to progress further in the organization;
- Has managed career in a credible, highly disciplined manner with great integrity and character; and,
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
