Jim Conroy
Founding Partner
Jim Conroy is the Founder and Chairman of Conroy Ross Partners.
He established the firm in 1994 with a focus on senior professional, managerial and executive searches in the oil and gas and oilfield service industries. Jim's scope of practice has since expanded to include executive search assignments in the manufacturing and high technology industries, and board level searches for a wide variety of organizations.
Jim is a believer in people and a builder of leaders and careers. Over more than a decade, the firm he founded has grown in size and reputation to be recognized as one of the pre-eminent Executive Search and Business Advisory firms in Western Canada. In that time, Jim has also served a three-year term as Chairman of IIC Partners, Executive Search Worldwide (2000-2003) and been named by Business Week Magazine as one of the World’s 100 Most Influential Executive Search Professionals. Jim has also been named in 2008 by Alberta Venture Magazine as one of Alberta's 50 Most Influential People.
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Jim worked for an international oilfield services firm, influencing the growth and development of people and business strategies in his role as a human resources executive. Jim subsequently took on senior operational roles, responsible for divisions in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and South America. In 1988, Jim joined a Calgary-based management consulting firm where his human resources and management expertise was recognized by industry executives dealing with difficult recruitment and outplacement issues.
In addition to the leadership role that he plays at Conroy Ross Partners, Jim is a leader in the Calgary community. His philosophy of giving back and supporting others is demonstrated through the commitment of time and resources that he and the firm invest in a number of non-profit organizations. Jim currently serves on the Board of the Calgary Prostate Cancer Foundation and has been a long time active supporter of St. Mary’s University College and the Bethany Care Society.
